The Bowman Centre
From 2010 to 2025 the Bowman Centre for Sustainable Energy was a Canadian all-volunteer think-tank.
The core group of Associates were involved with the Canadian Academy of Engineering, and active on a Task Force for Sustainable Energy. When their reports were completed, several CAE members continued to work on energy issues facing Canada. They were joined by others who were impressed with what had been done, and who wanted to contribute to a sustainable energy future for Canada.
The mission of the Bowman Centre for Sustainable Energy was to catalyze nation-building big energy projects to support Canada’s sustainable energy future, while providing economic growth and jobs.

As consumers, we buy energy in many forms, gasoline, natural gas, propane, electricity, batteries. But how do we compare energy/operating costs when we buy gasoline in litres, electricity in kw-hours, propane in kgs, natural gas in cubic meters.

Buying or selling electricity in Ontario can be confusing. What anyone needs to know is how price is set and what risks there are to that price. It is a complex market and that complexity needs to be well understood in order to understand risk. This presentation is intended to identify the major market agencies/authorities, outline how generators are paid and how consumers (large and small) are charged for their consumption.
